
Make sure that all instances of Discord, including the browser version, are closed out before attempting the steps. Set the Discord application (%LocalAppData%/Discord/most recent version) to run as Administrator and set Compatibility to Windows 7 or 8 (try both) Open the direct messages chat or any server chat that you want to download. In the pop-up that opened, enable the checkmark beside Open as window and click on Create. Now open Discord on your browser and log in if you haven’t already. In the drop-down, select More tools > Create shortcut. In some cases, these extra steps may be necessary. To install, click on the three-dot menu at the top right corner of the browser. If your OS tells you that the file cannot be deleted because it's still in use, open up the Task Manager and terminate all instances of Discord there and in the startup tab. Then find the "Discord" folder in both of those windows, and delete it. Then %localappdata% in the run window and hit enter:

From the dropdown menu that opens, choose deb. %appdata% in the run window and hit enter: Go to the Discord website and click on the download for Linux button. To find those folders, hit the Start button + R, and enter: (Sometimes stray processes can hide in your system tray or your task manager- double-check those!)

You can either make your own theme, or download the wide variety of themes from our community. Close Discord in the system tray and make sure all Discord processes are terminated.
